Der Master-Studiengang Dramaturgie wird in Frankfurt seit 2002 als ein Studiengang der Hessischen Theaterakademie (HTA) an der Goethe-Universität angeboten. Die Student*innen profitieren hier vom engen Kontakt mit den anderen hessischen Theaterausbildungsinstitutionen und Theatern sowie mit vielen weiteren Kooperationspartnern im In- und Ausland. Der Schwerpunkt liegt dabei auf Dramaturgie als eine politische Praxis.

Der in seiner Art einzigartige Double-Degree-Master-Studiengang Comparative Dramaturgy and Performance Research, den wir in Kooperation mit Universitäten und Theaterakademien in vier europäischen Hauptstädten (Brüssel, Helsinki, Oslo, Paris) anbieten, richtet sich an Student*innen mit Interesse an einer Arbeit in internationalen und interkulturellen Zusammenhängen. Sie gewinnen durch das Studium an zwei europäischen Universitäten und durch ein Auslandspraktikum intensive vergleichende Einblicke in die Theaterpraxis und -forschung in unterschiedlichen nationalen Kontexten.

Neben Seminaren, szenischen Projekten, Workshops und Exkursionen können die Student*innen beider Studiengänge von einer Vielzahl an Angeboten der HTA sowie der Goethe-Universität profitieren: Proberäume, Schnittplätze, die Möglichkeit, eigene Arbeiten im Kontext der Partnerinstitutionen zu zeigen, Vortragsreihen, Gespräche mit Praktiker*innen und direkte Anbindung an die Stadt- und Staatstheater sowie die freien Häuser in der Region. Darüber hinaus steht ihnen das gesamte Angebot einer Volluniversität – Vorlesungen, Tagungen, Vorträge – sowie eine auf dem Gebiet der theaterwissenschaftlichen Literatur hervorragend ausgestattete Bibliothek und eine umfangreiche Mediathek zur Verfügung.

The Goethe University Frankfurt has been offering the Dramaturgy programme since 2002 together with the Hessian Theatre Academy (HTA). In close contact with other Hessian institutions for theatre education, theatres in the region and a large number of collaboration partners, both local and abroad, this programme prepares students for roles in the field of dramaturgy. The focus is thereby on dramaturgy as political practice.

The international double-degree study programme in Comparative Dramaturgy and Performance Research is being offered by five European partner universities and theatre academies (Brussels, Frankfurt, Helsinki, Oslo, and Paris). It is aimed at students who are interested in working in international and intercultural contexts. During their studies at two European universities and during an internship abroad, they will receive profound comparative insights into theatre practice and research in different national contexts.

In addition to seminars, scenic projects, workshops and excursions, the students of both programmes can benefit from a variety of offers from the HTA and the Goethe University: Rehearsal rooms, editing stations, the opportunity to show their own work in the context of the partner institutions, lecture series, discussions with practitioners and direct contact with the municipal and state theatres as well as the independent theatres in the region. In addition, they have access to all the facilities of a university – lectures, conferences, talks – as well as to an excellently equipped library in the field of theatre studies and a comprehensive media library.

Students who have successfully graduated with a Bachelor’s degree by the time the programmes commence may apply. The application deadline for the winter semester 2025/2026 is 31^st of May 2025. You will find more information about the two programmes at www.dramaturginfrankfurt.de.
