I find both Brecht’s lyrics and Weill’s music to be extremely captivating…Weill’s simple and light-hearted melody is delightfully at odds with the gruesome nature of the text itself.

I hope that my audience senses my respect and admiration towards the original text, and also enjoys my fresh rendition to which I dedicated all my strength and finesse.
